Frequently asked questions
What about my old URL?
Don't worry, if you listed your old url (www.FolkZone.com/yourname.html) on your promotional items (cds etc.) it will still work. It will simply redirect people to your new address (www.FolkZone.com/YourName). If you haven't used the old URL, please use the new URL as it will simplify things for us.
What has changed?
Simply put, Ken has agreed to let Tom Eaton and George Champlin continue and extend the services offered by the FolkZone.
Who are George and Tom?
Tom Eaton runs thomas eaton recording in Newburyport MA. He specializes in folk and acoustic music and has recorded Rob Laurens, Jenny Reynolds, Marc Herman, and many others. Check out www.thomaseaton.com for more info on Tom.
George Champlin is a Boston area singer/songwriter/guitar player. His cd "Storytelling..." is available at www.cdalley.com and www.folkweb.com as well as Newbury Comics. Check out www.FolkZone.com/GChamplin for more info on George.
Do I have to learn HTML or programming?
No
What do I need to do?
You need to tell us that you want to be a part of the FolkZone! We'll send out a contract and a complete description of the FolkZone services and terms.
Then:
1.) E-mail your bio to us (or we can use your existing FolkZone bio)
2.) Mail (or deliver) us a package including:
a promotional photo (we can use existing FolkZone photos, too)
a promotional copy of your recording (CD, DAT, cassette)
a check to start your account
Do I get my promotional items back?
Promotional items will not be returned, so don't send your only copy!
How can I get e-mail if I don't have a computer / e-mail already?
We will provide a link to a free e-mail service (www.yahoo.com) that you can access using any web browser. That means you can go any friend's, relative's, or public library's computer with a web browser to get your e-mail.
Does someone at the FolkZone update my schedule?
No, you can update your schedule by using any web browser. There is an easy form to fill out that will save all your gig info. Your schedule can be retrieved from your web page. We are using the Musi-Cal service that many of you already use.
Can I design my own web page?
Good question, we'd like to keep a consistent look and feel to the FolkZone, so we plan on providing a few different layouts to choose from. That being said, if you are an html wizard, we'll do our best to accommodate you.
