Chris Elliott's Home Page

Not to be confused with the comedian Chris Elliott, this is the real Chris Elliott: a Boston-based singer/songwriter whos actually more fun than that other guy. Machete-sharp lyrics, hard-hitting guitar, and hook-heavy melodies give Chris Elliott a unique, entertaining sound. His dynamic live performances are quickly earning him a following in the New England area.

Chris Elliott is the winner of the 91.9 FM/Borders Books and Music 1996 Songwriters Competition and a finalist in the 13th Annual Mid-Atlantic Song Contest. He has opened for the likes of Cosy Sheridan, Grey Eye Glances, Diane Zeigler, and Ratsy, and has been featured on WERS 88.9, WUMB 91.9, WMFO 91.5, and the Best of Boston folk festival. His song "Nothing Too Major" is part of the compilation CD Show Up, Sign Up & Play, which also features Jess Klein, Faith Soloway, and Mary Gauthier. His songs "Promises Promises" and "Wait Up" are included on the upcoming Out of Our Shells Boston compilation. Recent releases include a CD Round like an Orange, plus Lazyboy Workout with his trio Elliott Street. A solo CD Voice, Guitar, & 10 Good Songs is forthcoming.

Quotes:

"He is a genuine songwriter, with a good deal of humor and empathy, which in this scene, makes him a rare bird."

-- Max Heinegg, The Noise (2/00)

"Chris Elliotts writing makes me `laugh now, think later. And why cant I get that tune out of my head? Hes a poet in a songwriter suit."

-- Marylin Rea Beyer,
Music Director, WUMB, 91.9 FM

"Chris Elliotts Nothing Too Major gives the feel-good hit of the summer."

--Northeast Performer

"Tape of the Month. Pantheon-building is a bad habit, but right up there with Jim Infantino among locals whove risen to the top of their form without getting bogged down in-genre." "This charming release... is as strong as any major label disc in this genre. Sparkling folk-driven pop number fueled by Elliott's ingenious, sometimes lofty lyrics and majestic string work fill this pioneering 13 song effort full of wonderful themes and superb musicianship. Elliotts talents on guitar, keyboard, and mandolin are unrivaled as he exhibits his prowess throughout this well-conceived disc."

-- Metronome, 3/00
